To get started, you’ll need an eSIM‑compatible, carrier‑unlocked device, a stable internet connection for purchase and setup, and the latest version of Viber on Android or iOS.
Even a newer phone may not support eSIM. iPhones bought in Mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macao typically use a physical dual-SIM tray instead. Work phones may have eSIM blocked by company IT, shown as a greyed-out or missing "Add eSIM" button. And phones still under a carrier contract, such as with AT&T, T-Mobile, or Vodafone, may be network-locked until the carrier unlocks them.
How to buy a data plan?
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap the More button
- Tap eSIM
- Select the country you're traveling to and choose a data plan
- Tap Buy for [amount] to open the payment screen
- Choose your preferred payment method
- Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm payment
Payment options include Google Pay (Android) or Apple Pay (iOS) for one-touch purchase, manual or camera-scanned credit or debit card entry, or a saved Link account for faster checkout.
How to install your eSIM?
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap More
- Tap eSIM
- Copy the SM-DP+ address and Activation Code shown on screen
- Go to Settings, then Cellular, then Add eSIM
- Tap Enter Details Manually
- Paste the address and code into the required fields
- Follow the prompts to finish setup
The SM-DP+ address is a secure link needed to download and install the eSIM.
Your plan activates automatically once you land and connect to a local network. You must activate it within 90 days of purchase, or it will expire unused.
Prices vary per data package and country.
