Rappler, was also able to obtain a quote from Secretary Martin Andanar said in an interview on radio dzBB Sunday.

Nakapili na ang Chinese government ng kumpanya sa China na mag-i-invest sa telco dito sa bansa natin. Ito ay ang kumpanyang China Telecom (The Chinese government has selected China Telecom to invest in telecommunications in our country)

Currently, China Telecom Corporation Limited is one of the biggest telecommunications companies in China. They have around 215 million total mobile subscribers as of end 2016 data.

As a foreign entity, China Telecom is only allowed to have 40% company ownership in the Philippine. It means that in order to make this happen, China Telecom needs a local partner w/ 60% ownership.

Kailangan mo nga iyong makikipag-partner doon sa hindi pipitsugin, at of course iyong mayroon nang telecom franchise (You'll need a partner that isn't so-so, and of course one that already holds a telecom franchise.), Secretary Martin Andanar said

Mr. Andanar also mentioned that the government is speeding this up as our countrymen are getting more annoyed by dropped calls and slow internet.

What do you think guys?
