ASUS announced three new phones at the MWC 2018 with the ZenFone 5 name: the 5, 5Z and the 5 Lite. The 5Z will be coming out later with a price of USD 499 + tax while the 5 Lite is rumored to be priced at USD 250 + tax. So expect the ZenFone 5 to be priced in between.
Let's see how it stacks up

Familiar design |
Design is clearly where ASUS focused with the new ZenFone 5. Though it is clear that it was heavily inspired by Apple's iPhone, ASUS has made enough changes to differentiate it.

At the back, ASUS has decided to bring back the signature ASUS shiny plate that has a unique shine to it. It has been sorely missed by us in GIZGUIDE.
It was a unique way that told the world, this is made by ASUS. In the middle of this cross shaped reflection is the fingerprint sensor and beside it is the dual cameras and the LED Flash.
The dual cameras here is a standard lens and ultrawide lens which we find much more functional.
At the bottom, is the now rare 3.5mm headphone jack! Thank you ASUS.
The ZenFone 5 starts with 4GB RAM and is powered by the Snapdragon 636 and the Adreno 509 GPU making this potentially a very good processor and GPU for a 1080p display. The 5Z with the Snapdragon 845 will be even more powerful and may perform along with the flagships announced in MWC 2018.
Expected to be a very good performer!
The main cameras are a dual lens set up of 12MP, Sony IMX363 Sensor f/1.8 w/ PDAF, OIS, EIS, and LED flash and a 8MP f/2.0 ultra wide camera while the selfie camera is a 8MP f/2.0 with EIS.
Out of the box, the auto mode is intuitive and easy to use with a lot of added features that we will cover in the full review. It now has the AI scene detection that detects what the subject is and adjusts the settings to take the best picture for the subject.
It now has stereo speakers and is expected to improve on the overall visual and auditory experience.
The rest of the features
The ZenFone 5 has a fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.0, OTG, NFC, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, dual SIM (hybrid). It has an LED light for notifications as well.It is now running Oreo with the new ZenUI 5.0 which looks like the prettiest and lightest version of the skin but now without the ASUS branded apps that did what most Google Apps did.
It has a 3,300mAh battery capacity with fast charging support.
