Beastly flagship battle

Near bezel-less full screen design |
Build/Design - The Samsung S10+ is made of a combined glass and limited edition ceramic materials. Meanwhile, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is a combination of metal and glass build. Both smartphones are built out of luxurious materials which is expected for the flagship smartphones.
On front, the Galaxy S10+ sports the slimmest bezels we've seen on a smartphone. It has no notch and places the dual selfie cameras through the punch hole technology.

Curvy screen with notch |
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro on the other hand has notch housing the sensors and selfie camera. It also has slim side bezels and a little thicker chin bezel.
Based on what we saw, S10+ is a bit ahead of Mate 20 Pro in terms of design.

Dynamic AMOLED HDR 10+ |
Display - The Korean smartphone firm calls the S10 Series' screen display as the Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED display. Samsung Galaxy S10+ features a huge 6.4-inch (800 nits) display. Its colors are more vibrant, sharper, and better contrast than any other Samsung flagship smartphones. It even has the HDR 10+ support.
The Mate 20 Pro goes with a 6.39-inch (820 nits) 3D OLED panel with a QHD+ 3140 x 1440 resolution at 541 ppi.
Mate 20 Pro has the "slightly" smaller screen with sharper details. Since the Galaxy S10 has no notch, it goes with the higher 93.1 percent of screen-to-body ratio versus the 87.9 of the Mate 20 Pro.

S10+ AnTuTu |
Specs - Both are beastly phones! The Galaxy S10+ has the new 8nm 64-bit Exynos 9820 octa-core processor w/ NPU. Finally, it now has a single NPU to handle AI tasks separately.
On the other hand the Mate 20 Pro has the 7nm 2.6GHz 64-bit Kirin 980 octa-core processor w/ Dual-NPU. The GPU of S10+ is Mali-G76 MP12 while the Mate 20 Pro goes with a GPU Turbo 2.0-assisted Mali G76 MP10 GPU.

S10+ Geekbench |
On paper, Mate 20 Pro is still ahead in the AI department. The S10+ is a bit ahead in speed and gaming though.

Mate 20 Pro AnTuTu and Geekbench |
The RAM and storage advantage goes to Samsung for me as it has the bigger 8GB/12GB RAM and up to 1TB storage versus the 6GB RAM/128GB ROM of Huawei's flagship.
The Mate 20 Pro features the larger 4,200mAh battery with faster 40W SuperCharge tech, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.
Samsung copied Huawei's reverse wireless tech and labeled it as their own "PowerShare" solution.

Triple cam |
Cameras - On the cameras, both the Galaxy S10+ and Huawei Mate 20 Pro arrived with a triple cameras.
The S10+ features a 12MP primary sensor with variable f/1.5 and f/2.4 aperture sizes for low light and daylight shots, respectively. It is even paired with Dual Pixel and OIS solution. The new second camera is the the 16MP 123-degree ultra wide-angle lens. It also has a 12MP f/2.4 2x telephoto sensor.

Leica triple-cam |
Huawei's triple Leica powered camera configuration needs no introduction. It features a 40MP f/1.8 RGB sensor + 20MP f/2.2 ultra wide-angle + 8MP f/2.4 OIS telephoto sensor w/ 4D predictive focus, AIS, 5x zoom. It has 3x optical zoom using the 3rd lens and super macro mode via the wide-angle lens for close-up shots. For low light, Huawei also pioneered the AI-assisted Super Night mode.
Samsung's "Bright Night" feature will just add exposure. It is not like Huawei's handend Super Night long exposure mode.
For selfies, the advantage goes to Samsung for me even if Huawei has a 24MP f/2.0 selfie shooter. It features a 10MP f/1.9 + 8MP f/2.2 RGB dual-selfie camera setup w/ Dual Pixel technology and 4K video recording. As we all know, Dual Pixel is love.

Other features - Both devices comes with an In-Display fingerprint sensor. Samsung's implementation is just newer and faster as it has the Ultrasonic scanner. Both phones also comes with face unlock (IR face unlock for Mate 20 Pro), IP68 water and dust resistance, USB-C, and HiFi audio.
Mate 20 Pro uses the new NM card slot to expand its storage. Samsung still has the 3.5mm headphone jack slot.
Both runs with Android 9.0 Pie OS out of the box with their own skins.
Samsung Galaxy S10+ advantages - Full screen with no notch and higher screen-to-body ratio, slightly faster chipset, bigger max RAM and ROM options, nicer selfie cameras, faster In-Display fingerprint scanner, WiFi 6, 3.5mm headphone jack slot
Huawei Mate 20 Pro advantages - Slightly sharper and brighter screen, Dual-NPU, slightly bigger battery capacity, Leica triple camera setup, slightly higher LTE category, more affordable price tag
