A&S 43-inch FHD LED TV Review - Big TV on a budget

We got our hands on the most affordable 43-inch FHD LED TV at Shopee's 3.3 2019 sale and this is what we think about it!

Unboxing/Accessories

Unboxing time!

Inside are the box is the TV, stand, remote control, warranty and manual. There is no included battery for the remote controller or cable. The power cable is directly connected to the TV.

This means you can't use a third party cable should the cable break or is damaged by pets or pests.

Build Quality/Design

Sleek back side with speakers and wall mount options

The build quality of the polycarbonate housing is solid and lightweight. There is no panel flex and the areas where it will be mounted on the wall felt reinforced.

Our gripe with the build quality is with the included feet or stands. The polycarbonate used doesn't feel or doesn't look as sturdy as the polycarbonate used on the main TV body. We recommend wall mounting instead.

In front is a minimal design with thin top and side bezels while the bottom bezel is slightly thicker with the branding at front. The display itself is bright with acceptable detail, contrast and color out of the box. At the back are the ports, the wall mounting screw-ins, speakers, and power cable.

At the rear bottom right side are the power, source, volume up, volume down, channel up and channel down buttons. The buttons respond quickly and accurately but each press felt cheap because it may not have been dampened with resistance to soften each press. It works but don't expect a great button pressing experience.

Video-out, 2 HDMI ports, VGA port, PC audio in and RF in

The port selections are limited to 2 USB Type-A ports, 2 sets of AV-in, 2 HDMI ports, a PC audio-in, and an RF-in. It covers the basic ports and not much else.

Performance

Big screen, budget price

The panel is a 43-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 so if you are standing within a meter from the TV, the pixels will be appear large but if you are sitting at least 3 meters away (like across the room on your couch) you won't notice it too much.

The color accuracy isn't the best but it is vibrant enough for most people while the contrast is also acceptable.

The internal Operating System is basic. We wouldn't be surprised if it was the same operating system you will find in budget monitors.

The OS does allow to switch between channels, sources and modes. The volume can be toggled without problems either.

We plugged our Google Chromecast and it loaded without a hitch.

Pros - Decent build quality for the TV body, big screen, affordable price

Cons - Build quality of the stand/feet isn't as good as the body, OS is basic

Verdict

For the price at Shopee's big sale at PHP 3,333, the A&S 43-inch slim FHD LED TV is a good value even though what you are getting is a basic/bare bones FHD TV.

It has a decent Korean panel that gives decent color and contrast and the build quality is mostly good.

We recommend this TV if you need a big screen FHD LED TV on a very tight budget.
