Prior to this announcement, several brands such as TCL, Sony, Vivo, and LG have all canceled their respective MWC events due to the same reason stated above.

Since the first edition of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in 2006, the GSMA has convened the industry, governments, ministers, policymakers, operators and industry leaders across the broader ecosystem.

With due regard to the safe and healthy environment in Barcelona and the host country today, the GSMA has canceled MWC Barcelona 2020 because the global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concern and other circumstances, make it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event.

GSMA's statement added that it is sending its sympathies at this time are with those affected in China, and all around the world.

The GSMA also noted that it is looking forward to MWC Barcelona 2021 and future editions.

What's left unclear is what will happen to the pre-MWC events on February 22 and 23. Huawei said that it will push through its February 23 event while OPPO told us that that the Find X2 event will push through. For Xiaomi and Motorola, we are unsure yet.

Stay tuned for more updates.
