In a previous report, EverythingApplePro and reliable leaker Max Weinbach revealed alleged CAD renders of the alleged upcoming iPhone 12 Pro Max. This CAD renders revealed that the unannounced smartphone will have an iPad Pro-like design with squared-off sides that is highly reminiscent of the iPhone 4, 5s, SE. The renders also depicted a smaller notch in the front and a fourth LiDAR camera on the back. You can read more about this at this link.

PocketNow reports that @Choco_bit and Jon Prosser tweeted images that depict similar details that were previously claimed by CAD renders mentioned previously. In order to make the Not smaller, Apple is allegedly moving the in-ear speaker to the edge of the frame to make more room for the Face ID sensors. This results in a smaller notch and a slightly bigger display.

Another benefit of making the notch smaller is to allow more room for Apple to move the Ultra-wide camera of the rear camera module to make room for the new LiDAR camera. This new LiDAR camera was first introduced on the recently announced iPad Pro 2020.

PocketNow also claims that this slimmer notch looked similar to an iPhone 11 Pro prototype that was tested in early 2019 but was scrapped.

Take this information with a grain of salt. None of this information is confirmed until Apple makes an official announcement.
