But since the commercial 5G deployment is still on its infancy stage, you will only find a few locations. If you own a 5G-powered smartphone and you want to try here, have a look below.

If 5G is not yet in your area, fret not. A 5G antenna is smaller and easier to deploy than 4G. Several existing 4G towers in the country can also support 5G antennas.

Plus, both Globe and Smart will spend about PHP 60 to 70B each this year for network upgrades—both 5G and 4G. Also, it seems that the Philippine government will finally help the telcos get permits to build cell towers faster.

These developments suggest that sooner or later, more Filipinos will be able to experience the benefits of 5G's super-fast speeds.

Globe also said that it will make sure 5G is enjoyed by more Filipinos soon. Outside of Metro Manila, Globe will roll out 5G starting 2021.

As of writing, there's a total of 15 5G-ready smartphones that are now available in the Philippines. 7 of them are from Huawei, 5 from Xiaomi, 2 from OnePlus, and 1 from Samsung.

Soon, vivo and realme will reveal their 5G-ready handsets as well. Samsung is also scheduled to launch 5G-ready devices on August 5.

Note: Make sure that your phone is either Globe or Smart 5G-certified to enjoy 5G. If you're in a 5G zone, your 5G-enabled device will show a 5G signal name or icon.

There's no word yet when will 5G be available for prepaid subscribers.
