AMD launches new Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 CPUs starting at USD 299!

On schedule, AMD announced its new roster Zen 3 powered Ryzen 5000 series processors for desktops. It includes one touted as the "best gaming CPU" yet.

The move from Zen 2 to Zen 3 is also great news for people worrying about compatibility with older motherboards. AMD assures that after existing motherboards will be able to support the new processors after a firmware update. Zen 3 will also provide a 26 percent increase in performance from Zen 2 while maintaining the same TDP and core counts.

The new AMD Ryzen 9 5900X is touted by the company as the "world's best gaming CPU" in the market right now. The 5900X still uses AMD's 7nm architecture. It has 12 cores and 24 threads at 105W TDP. It can run up to 4.8GHz with a 3.7GHz base clock. It also has a 70MB L2+L3 cache.

For the most affordable in the line, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X has 6 cores with 12 threads at 65W TDP. It runs a max clock speed of 4.6GHz with a base of 3.7GHz. For the L2+L3 cache, it has 35MB.

The top tier offering is the Ryzen 9 5950X with 16 cores and 32 threads at 105W TDP. It can run up to 4.9GHz with a 3.4GHz base clock. It also has a 72MB L2+L3 cache. While in the middle, we have the Ryzen 7 5800X that has 8 cores with 16 threads at 105W TDP. It runs a max clock speed of 4.7GHz with a base of 3.88GHz. For the L2+L3 cache, it has 36MB.

The new Zen 3-powered AMD Ryzen 5000 processors are set to be available starting November 5, 2020. Prices are as follows:
