Samsung ISOCELL Vizion 33D ToF sensor now official

120 fps tracking with 5-meter accuracy?

It features 4-tap pixel system that allows it to deliver precise depth-sensing capabilities that will be perfect for 3D applications. It produces depth maps with a resolution of 640 x 480. It also enables professional-level shots with bokeh effects and accurate 3D object images. The ISOCELL Vizion 33D ToF sensor is essentially optimized for both high-level photography and AR/VR applications.

What is the 4-tap pixel system?

It can track fast-moving objects at 120 fps

The 4-tap demodulation system the ISOCELL Vizion 33D sensor to get precise depth measurement of fast-moving objects and tracking at 120 frames per second. Each pixel in the sensor can receive four-phase signals at the same time at 0 degrees, 90 degrees, 180 degrees, and 270 degrees allowing it to generate a depth image with just a single frame.

The ToF sensor can measure distances between 0.2 meters to 5 meters with 10 or 12-resolution. It uses 200mW of power when used as an AF assist for both photos and IR illumination while AR and video bokeh rendering uses up to 400mW of power.

The Deep Trench Isolation tech that is part of ISOCELL reduces communication between pixels, which helps the sensor separate the subject from the background accurately. It can also be used for security purposes such as face unlock for smartphones as well.
