Huawei also states that the global 5G rollout is progressing quickly. In China, over 600,000 base stations have already been established in more than 300 cities. It now supports more than 160 million 5G connections in the country. With speeds averaging in hundreds of Mbps, 5G services are also being implemented in more than 20 domestic industries in China including healthcare, ports, steel, power grids, mining, and manufacturing.

According to Huawei, as of September 30, 2020, China's three major operators have implemented over 5,000 innovative 5G projects and signed over 1,000 5G business contracts. However, the company also believes that rollout relies on industry cooperation since there are different requirements for each field of work.

To deploy 5G successfully for a specific industry, it needs to identify the real needs based on specific business scenarios. The networks also need to adapt to different scenarios. Once those are established, a strong industrial 5G device ecosystem is key for its success. Lastly, the telco companies need to develop new capabilities to serve business-facing 5G markets.

Telecoms operators are in a good position to provide these services. By focusing on connectivity, they can solidify their position as a connection provider in markets where existing network solutions are no longer sufficient. Once they develop cloud and integration capabilities on top of that, operators can then provide a combination of connectivity, cloud, and integration services. Huawei stayed true to its commitment to helping carriers transform their portfolios as needed.
