Globe and Converge tops Netflix ISP Speed Index Philippines again in Feb 2021

According to the latest Netflix ISP Speed Index in the Philippines, telco providers Globe and Converge have topped its rankings again in February 2021.

During the said period, both Globe Telecom and Converge ICT 
recorded an average speed of 3.2 Mbps for the top spot.

The speed score of PLDT and SKYCable remained at 3.0 and 2.8 Mbps for the number 2 and 3 spots, respectively. Meanwhile, Royal Cable improved a little to 2.6 Mbps from 2.4 Mbps for the last spot last month.

To recap, the Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime-time Netflix performance on particular internet service providers (ISPs) around the world.

Globe and Converge's 3.2 Mbps Netflix speed score is on par with the average speed of Netflix in Argentina, Austria, Bolivia, Chile, Greece, Japan, and more.

The Philippines' average of 3.0 Mbps is on par with Colombia, Taiwan, Kuwait, Turkey, and more.

Our tireless efforts in improving network infrastructure are resulting in better connectivity, faster speeds and higher consistency. We expect our customers on wired plans using Netflix would be happy with our consistently reliable network experience, said Darius Delgado, VP and Head of Broadband Business at Globe.

Globe said that 2020 is a banner year for its Home Broadband business which saw its subscriber base grew 88 percent YoY. Globe added that it intends to rollout an additional 1 million fiber lines in 2021. Its capex is up to PHP 70 billion and 80 percent of which will be sent on data network builds. This means that its network will only continue to get better.
