Confirmed: OnePlus 9 series to officially launch on March 23

Last week, OnePlus teased the release of their flagship devices. Today, they announced that the OnePlus 9 series will arrive on March 23.

The company confirms the arrival of its upcoming flagship series on March 23. The launch of the OnePlus 9 series will start at 10:00 AM EDT, 14:00 PM GMT, and 19:30 PM IST. OnePlus also officially confirmed that it had partnered with renowned camera maker "Hasselblad" in developing its flagship's camera system.

The brand also mentioned its plan of investing over 150 million USD for the next 3 years to further improve its mobile imaging technology. This also indicates that we can expect more Hasselblad-branded cameras on OnePlus for its future smartphones.

OnePlus and Hasselblad's partnership will produce various camera improvements. They are currently working on software optimizations particularly in color tuning and sensor calibration. In the future, they also planned to extend more dimensions. 

The product of their efforts will be unveiled on their upcoming OnePlus 9 series. It will feature a new color solution which is called "Natural Color Calibration with Hasselblad".

The company claimed that the color solution will provide more accurate and natural colors when taking photos with the OnePlus 9 cameras. It will also be the new standard for calibration in its next-generation smartphones in the future.

OnePlus 9 series will also feature the "Hasselblad Pro Mode. This mode will be the first in smartphones to have top-notch sensor calibration. OnePlus claimed that the picture will have " incredibly accurate and natural color for a solid foundation for post-editing." The Hasselblad Pro Mode will come in various UI changes based on Hasselblad's image processing software which will give an authentic Hasselblad look and feel for its users.

In addition, this mode will have several controls dedicated to professional photographers. There will also be a 12-bit RAW format for richer color and higher dynamic range.

For the next 3 years, the company will also add more promising camera innovations such as a "panoramic camera with a 140-degree field of view, T-lens technology for lightning-fast focus in the selfie camera, and a freeform lens that will remove edge distortion in ultrawide photos". Oneplus will create four major research and development facilities across the globe for these camera innovations.

The company also mentioned that the upcoming flagship series will carry a custom Sony IMX789 sensor. The 12-bit RAW support will take advantage of this lens and will bring up to 64-times more colorful than previous cameras. It will also give professional photographers more room for editing pictures.
