The latest update on Globe's 5G expansion and builds

According to the local telco giant, the company has expanded its 5G coverage to more than 1,800 key locations in the country as of July 2021.

In the National Capital Region, the company now has at least 94 percent 5G outdoor coverage. In Makati and Pateros, Globe boasts 100 percent coverage. In Marikina, it has 99 percent. Taguig, Mandaluyong, and Caloocan have 98 percent while San Juan has 97 percent.

Commercial Business Districts (CBDs) like Ortigas has 98 percent along with Makati and BGC CBD.

Apart from Metro Manila, Globe's 5G network is now available in Visayas and Mindanao as well.

In Cebu City, Globe has 85 percent 5G coverage. In Boracay Island, the company has 75 percent. In Bacolod City and Iloilo City, the company claims 66 percent.

Globe's 5G network is now available in 80 percent of Cagayan De Oro City and 77 percent of Davao City. The company added that efforts are also underway in building seven new 5G cell towers in General Santos City and the installation of four more in Zamboanga City.

With the different challenges we are facing right now, coverage contiguity is our top priority. To do this, we need to maximize the locations of our 5G network builds that we have right now.  These strategic installations will eventually lead to more practical and viable rollouts in the coming months. We want to provide our customers with a better experience with the latest technology and 5G capable devices as soon as possible, said Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group.

The goal to make more customers, especially in Visayas and Mindanao, actually experience the advantages and make the most of the opportunities 5G brings will always inspire us to push harder and to deliver more to other locations, added Agustin.

To enjoy 5G, Globe is encouraging its customers to upgrade to  5G-ready 4G LTE SIM cards and to have 5G-enabled handsets and devices. To check if there is Globe 5G in your area, visit this link.
