DITO delivers second-year commitments

In a disclosure, DITO CME Holdings Corp. said the third telco player continued to hit its promised level of services in terms of coverage and mobile data speed.

This was revealed in a notice from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), citing findings from an independent editor.

For the second year, DITO vowed to provide 55 megabits per second of speed, covering 51.01 percent of the Philippine population.

In its technical audit, DITO's coverage reached 52.75 percent. In terms of speed, DITO was able to record minimum average broadband speeds at 89.13 Mbps for 4G and 853.96 Mbps for 5G.

In July, we reported that DITO has been preparing its network for its 5G service launch. Taiwan-based chip maker MediaTek said DITO is expected to launch 5G "soon".

Last year, MediaTek bared they have a partnership with the third telco player, which is backed by Davao's Dennis Uy and China Telecommunications.

In May, Nokia said in a statement it bagged the deal to provide telecommunications equipment for DITO's 5G infrastructure in Mindanao.

DITO's 5G, Nokia said, will deliver "superior speeds, capacity, and lower latencies."

Currently, DITO’s market reach is limited to the mobile service market. The group has now over two million subscribers.
