Ookla: Smart Communications "most reliable 5G mobile operator" in PH

PLDT's wireless arm Smart Communications has been hailed as the "most reliable 5G mobile operator" in the latest report of global analytics firm Ookla.

Citing the latest data from Ookla's Speedtest Intelligence data in the second quarter, the Pangilinan-led group said it recorded the highest scores in 5G Consistency and 5G Availability.

Smart had a score of 89.78 percent for 5G Consistency, higher than its main competitor Globe Telecom's 78.15 percent.

In terms of the network's availability, Smart recorded a score of 14.67 percent against Globe's 11.86 percent.

According to Ookla, 5G Consistency is calculated based on the percentage of a provider’s users that meet minimum download and upload speeds, while 5G Availability identifies the network whose users spend the highest percentage of their time on 5G.

For the first six months, Ookla also said Smart was the country's fastest 5G mobile network.

Currently, Smart has more than 4,000 5G sites deployed to over 3,000 areas nationwide.
