This is the latest 70-200mm telephoto lens in the Sony G-Master lineup

The Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II is the newest member of the G-Master lineup. It promises to deliver the resolution, bokeh, and AF performance known to the Sony G-Master line. It is designed to work with Sony E-mount camera bodies. Sony touts the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II as the lightest f/2.8 70-20mm zoom lens yet.

It uses the two aspherical lens elements including one XA element manufactured to 0.01-micron surface precision. It effectively controls distance-related aberration variations to ensure outstanding resolution throughout the image area. It also uses two extra-low dispersion spherical glass elements and two Super ED spherical glass elements to significantly reduce chromatic aberration without color bleeding.

The Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II also includes an ED aspherical element for the first time in an Alpha system lens. This simultaneously suppresses chromatic and spherical aberration, common issues in other telephoto lenses.

The gorgeous bokeh is made possible by a large f/2.8 max aperture and the new 11-blade circular aperture unit. It also has an advanced optical design to suppress the unwanted "onion ring" effect. The minimum focusing distance is 15.7 inches at 70mm and 32.3 inches at 200mm.

To avoid any unwanted flare and ghosting in tricky lighting conditions, Sony included its original Nano AR Coating II to produce a uniform anti-reflection coating on the surface of the lens. It also has Sony's XD Linear Motors for fast and precise autofocus. It makes it up to 4X faster with improved focus tracking by 30 percent compared to the previous model.

For video, the FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II offers smooth AF to reliably lock in focus and track fast-moving subjects even while zooming so the user can leave the focusing task to the camera. It also has individual controls for focus, zoom, and aperture. Sony's Liner Response MF ensures responsive, low latency manual focus control. The included lens hood also features an opening that allows for the convenient operation of circular polarizing filters or variable ND filters for more creative flexibility.

The Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II telephoto lens will soon become available in the Philippines. We will update you about the pricing and once it hits stores nationwide.
