DITO addresses weak indoor signal
According to DITO chief technology officer Rodolfo Santiago, the group would install more in-building solutions and roll out more towers.
Currently, the company has over 200 in-building solutions already completed. Santiago said these initial in-building solutions have been deployed to major malls and buildings across the country.
There are two strategies to address the concern. One is to densify our network, to penetrate more residences, and the other one is to increase our in-building solutions coverage inside major public buildings, Santiago said.
For the residence market, meanwhile, DITO is banking on establishing more towers to provide better indoor coverage.
DITO boasts about 4,000 towers. The company is now covering 500 areas nationwide. By the end of the year, it hopes to reach over 850 cities and municipalities.
In the past couple of months, it really has been improving. It’s a work in progress, but slowly but surely we’ll get there, Dito chief administrative officer Adel Tamano said, referring to Dito’s indoor coverage.
The new player gained over
five million mobile subscribers, nine months after its commercial launch.
