Microsoft unveils a Lunar New Year themed Xbox Series S

Microsoft celebrates Lunar New Year and Year of the Tiger and has launched a limited edition customized Xbox Series S console and controller.

The company collaborated with Chinese cartoon designer Bu2ma to create these 15 specially designed items based on an iconic character from his work. But there's a catch though, the customized Xbox won't be sold and instead, it will be given away as part of a contest starting on January 25 on Wechat and Bilibili.

Looking at their design, the console bears a red-painted body with black ink patterns and golden Chinese characters located at the top and side. The controller on the other hand also appears in festive red color on its body, you can also see the Tiger patterns in black ink finish. While at the back of the controller a Chinese character with the meaning of Golden Tiger is written to give more emphasis on the zodiac's significance.

According to traditional Chinese culture, people born in the Year of the Tiger are strong-willed and confident, both of which are characteristics shared by our global Xbox family. Like the Tiger, Team Xbox is determined to bring the joy of gaming to everyone on the planet, said Microsoft.

The modified Xbox Series S consoles and wireless controllers will undoubtedly become collectibles and iconic. Last year, we've also seen other customization on their products such as the Spongebob Squarepants theme, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the Limited Edition Halo-Infinite design.
