PLDT's fiber business records higher revenues on subscriber take-up in 2021

While many areas across the country were placed under tougher COVID alert levels, the telco said its fiber business still saw its revenue growth almost double at PHP 33 billion year-on-year.

PLDT attributed this growth to its "affordable and faster fiber-speed plans and its expansive rollout of fiber-to-the-home facilities" to more regions and islands.

2021 proved to be a record-breaking year for PLDT as we delivered all-time highs across the board despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic, calamities and hyper competition, said Alfredo S. Panlilio, PLDT and Smart President and CEO.

New fiber subscribers also reached 1.13 million in 2021 alone, surpassing its target, the Pangilinan-led firm said.

PLDT’s total fixed broadband customers are now nearly 3 million, a record high for the group, as it continues to average over 107,000 monthly installations at the end of the year.

By 2022, the group is seeking to further expand its presence in Luzon, while rolling out new areas for growth in the Visayas and Mindanao.
