PSA: Over 8M Filipinos receive their National IDs

Philippine Postal Corporation claimed that it delivered 8,176,454 Philippine Identification (PhilID) cards nationwide.

PhilID digital version is also being developed

The recipient of these IDs belong to those who have successfully registered for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Step 1 and Step 2. 

PSA also had a strict reminder to those who already got their PhilIDs and the accompanying letter containing their PhilSys Number (PSN). It warns against posting ID cards on social media to safeguard their personal information.

On the other hand, those who are awaiting the delivery of their PhilID cards are encouraged to keep their transaction slip which, along with a valid ID, will be presented to the Philippine Postal Corporation personnel delivering their PhilID card and PSN letter.

The Philippine Statistics Authority guaranteed that it is ramping up operations for the registration process so that it can deliver PhilID cards to more holders. PSA Assistant Secretary Rosalinda Bautista . She also added, 

We, at PSA, together with the Philippine Postal Corporation and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), are doing our best to accommodate millions of Filipinos who have successfully registered for PhilSys Step 1 and Step 2.

Bautista claimed that the delivered PhilID cards covered 24.2 percent of this year's set delivery target of 33.8 million.

Moreover, the PSA reported that it is eyeing to launch a mobile version of the National ID. This will serve as a digital alternative to the physical PhilID card to maximize the use of the PhilSys in digital transactions.

To recall, we had a report that President Rodrigo Duterte signed an executive order for accepting the National ID as sufficient proof of identity and age. Allegedly, this move will enhance the delivery of social services, expand financial inclusion, and promote ease of doing business.

Also, PSA said that PhilSys will make public and private transactions safer, more seamless, and more efficient as the country transitions into a digital economy.
