Custom processors for Galaxy devices?
Samsung was recently criticized for its Game Optimization Service that came pre-installed with previous Samsung flagship devices. This feature was intended to fine-tune the system performance during gaming to control heat and save battery life. It was however discovered that the feature throttled over 10,000 different apps.
Prolific leaker Ice Universe recently shared on Twitter a report by the Korean news website inews24. In the report, Samsung Electronics President TM Roh was recently questioned about the Game Optimization Service controversy at a meeting with employees. The president reportedly revealed at that meeting that the company will be making an application processor that will be tailored to the needs of its Galaxy devices.
These new processors may be different from the existing Exynos series of processors that are already in Galaxy devices and in some vivo and Meizu devices.
It is apparent that the current Exynos chips are not developed in coordination with the mobile division. As such, the mobile division has no say in what features go in and what features are prioritized.
GSMArena says that aside from the GOS scandal, some Galaxy S22 Ultra with the Exynos chips have been reporting GPS signal issues that bring unsavory press to the Exynos brand.
