Do you "ghost" people?

Emotional Damage!!!

Well, facing legal charges because of "ghosting" may be soon possible after a lawmaker filed a house bill seeking to declare this an emotional offense.

House Bill No. 611 filed by Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. noted that “ghosting” is when someone cuts off all forms of communication. Such an act "can be mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausting to the 'ghosted' person," it added.

The bill said there are studies proving "social rejection of any kind activates the same pain pathways in the brain as physical pain, meaning there's a biological link between rejection and pain."

Furthermore, "ghosting" develops feelings of rejection and neglect and it has adverse effects on the mental and emotional state of the person at the disadvantage since he or she will be constantly thinking about why it happened.

The ambiguity with ghosting is that there is no real closure between the parties concerned and as such, it can be likened to a form of emotional cruelty and should be punished, the proposed measure read.

However, Teves did not state any proposed penalty for violators.

If ever, you better think twice before ghosting people.

What do you guys think?
