Similar to OnePlus, now OPPO commits to 4 OS updates and 5 years of security patches for some of the upcoming 2023 flagships.
When ColorOS 13 was announced, the brand put focused efforts they can to bring the fastest rollout of ColorOS ever to their existing smartphones.
A few months later, now they promised their future clients that they will get at least up to ColorOS 17 or presumably up to Android 17 update for a few 2023 premium smartphones.
Now they are the next brand that provides long-term updates for Android devices alongside Samsung, OnePlus, and Nokia.
Perhaps this move can also push other phone makers to up their game when it comes to after-sales support. After all, most Android users would want their devices to get updated for as long as possible.
Apple has also been doing this for years which is likely one of the factors why the value of the iPhone depreciates at a slower pace than that of an Android.
What do you guys think?
