MediaTek to compete in the Smart Vehicle market

MediaTek Dimensity Auto is a range of new automotive solutions that includes high-performance computing, powerful AI, extensive integration, and leading connectivity solutions while being innately energy efficient and compliant with automotive-grade reliability standards.

The first of the new solutions is MediaTek Dimensity Auto Cockpit. It is responsible for the infotainment and interactive interface that aims to be the world's fastest smart cockpit. It uses high-performance AI multi-processors both for deep learning and vision processing. The SoC is built on the 3nm process and the company promises high efficiency and lower power consumption. The cockpit will support multiple HDR 8K screens with a 120Hz refresh rate while offering a full suite of streaming and decoding.

Next is Dimensity Auto Drive. It is the base for autonomous driving and uses the company's APU. MediaTek says that it uses a comprehensive and scalable platform for ADAS.

While MediaTek Dimensity Auto Components is an active and continuous engagement with R&D to provide reliable automotive-grade chipsets and components for the next generations of connected and intelligent vehicles. It will support a full range of Power Management Solutions, advanced integrated displays (Flexible OLED, large screens, multi-display options for EV units), and position determination and navigation of the vehicle even in underground parking structures, tunnels, and other satellite dead zones.

Lastly is MediaTek Dimensity Auto Connect. MediaTek's unique wireless communication technology portfolio consisting of 5G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GNSS navigation, and non-terrestrial satellite communication gives it an advantage in the future of always-connected vehicles. MediaTek says that it can use the combination of high-speed telematics and top-performing WiFi networking to make vehicles and drivers consistently connected to the world around them. It will use cutting-edge automotive communication based on the 3GPP open standards. Expect to see 5G Sub-6GHz carrier aggregation, WiFi 7, Bluetooth, and comprehensive GNSS coverage.

The Taiwanese manufacturing giant is the latest tech company to join the automotive world. Though it has yet to reveal ambitions to manufacture vehicles soon, it is worth noting the company's massive growth from producing affordable mobile phone chipsets to a global tech giant that supplies automotive components with the latest ADAS systems in a short time.

We are excited to see how this will unfold.
