ASUS drops the bombs last night unleashing their flagship gaming phones globally—ROG Phone 7 and an Ultimate version.
The two smartphones bear a similar design to their predecessor with the gamery vibe look and two-tone colors, trapezoid camera island, and iconic customizable ROG RGB at back.
What differentiates the Ultimate from the regular variant is found on its AeroActive portal, which opens to permit air to enter the built-in vapor chamber. It means that you can use a dedicated AeroActive cooler to prevent the phone from heating. Another difference is the ROG Vision display and higher memory configurations.
The rest are pretty similar such as the 6.8-inch E4 AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, 1,200 nits max brightness, HDR10+ support, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
Inside, they are powered by the latest 4nm 3.2GHz Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 octa-core processor with New Adreno GPU, 12 or 16GB LPDDR5X RAM, 256 or 512GB UFS 4.0 storage, 6,000mAh battery with 65W fast charging.
For cameras, the two used 50MP Sony IMX766 primary shooter coupled with a 13MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and 5MP for macro shooting. While on the front, it uses 32MP for selfies.
ASUS also noted the advanced cooling feature which they call the Gamecool 7. Basically, it has a Boron Nitride layer, dual graphite sheets with an area of 16,000mm², and a rapid cycle vapor chamber for heat dissipation.
The two phones support Ray tracing as well thanks to the Snapdragon Elite Gaming, although it is only limited to supported games only.
Another worth pointing out is the iconic AirTriggers for enhanced gaming experience particularly on shooting or other games that may benefit it. While the X-Axis linear motor will provide HD rumble when playing games.
On the connectivity side, it has WiFi 7 ready, 5G, 4G, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS, and dual SIM (nano) support.
For software, the ROG Phone 7 Series runs Android 13.
