Yuzu Switch Emulator is now on Android!

For context, Yuzu is a popular emulator for the portable/home hybrid console Nintendo Switch. It first originated on the PC with various updates to run games at better refresh rates and or even at higher resolution depending on the PC's hardware.

The app announcement

Right now the mobile app is still in its infancy as per the developer's claims. This means only smartphones with Snapdragon 865 and up and 8GB RAM can run "select Switch titles" at an acceptable frame rate.

The devs also continued that the phones must have Android 11 or higher implying that it should be fine with most modern devices.

Unfortunately, the devs also mentioned that the Yuzu Emulator is only limited to high-tier Snapdragon chips when it comes to compatibility for now. Therefore, high-end MediaTek chips, Kirin, some Exynos, Tensor, and more won't run a game. Fortunately, there are competitor apps like EggNS and Strato for such chips.

Moreover, the developers noted that they also suspect that certain Exynos chips with AMD RDNA 2 GPUs "might work" but they weren't able to test it as they are hard to find.

Right now, titles like Breath of the Wild, Skyrim, and Pokemon Sword work at the Yuzu Emulator but of course, it will depend on the handset you are using.

For those who want to try the said emulator, you may head to the Quick Start page that Yuzu devs have provided.

What do you guys think?
