Xiaomi has just launched a new device for anyone needing a new smart fitness watch in the Philippines—the Redmi Watch 3 Active.
|
Redmi Watch 3 Active box |
It's a promising fitness-focused band boasting an improved design with a bigger display, lots of cool watch faces, plenty of health and fitness-related features, and Bluetooth voice call function at a budget-friendly price tag.
We recently got a hold of this device and let's check it out.
This is the Redmi Watch 3 Active - Here's why you might need it too!
|
Unboxed, everything inside the box |
The Redmi Watch 3 Active arrived in a simple-looking package with nearly everything you need to use it inside. It comes with the watch itself followed by the USB-A to magnetic charging pin cable, and the User Manual.
|
The sensors behind |
Upon checking its build, the body of the device is made with mostly polycarbonate materials, a high-strength glass LCD screen, and a silicon strap. Xiaomi told us that they also coated it with NCVM for lightness and comfort.
On first look, it seems like this is a pretty well-made watch considering its price. It even has 5 ATM water resistance that can withstand water pressure up to 50 meters deep before suffering water damage. This means that it could also be used even for swimming or shower or rain, but it isn't used for water sports.
|
The strap |
Moreover, we like that its adjustable strap is very comfortable when worn and is user replaceable. Xiaomi Philippines told us there will also be a Grey and White strap sold separately.
|
The fairly bright display |
In terms of design, it will definitely remind you of an Apple Watch. We like that it has a bigger 1.83-inch display with a crisp enough 280 x 240 resolution.
Interestingly, the bezels are slim (except for the chin) and it is almost invisible even if this is not an AMOLED panel.
Speaking of its display quality, we like that it has fairly deep blacks and pretty vibrant colors. It has a bright-enough 450 nits max brightness as well. This makes the watch viewable even for outdoor use unlike some of the budget fitness watches we tried in the past.
At the bottom, you will see its optical sensor for heart rate and blood oxygen monitoring.
On the left, there is a speaker and you will see the microphone and the multifunction button on the right.
The device measures 46.94 x 38.88 x 10.94 mm for the body and 135~200 mm for the strap.
It is also lightweight at 41.67 grams even with the strap.
Features that we are excited to further explore
|
Heart rate monitoring |
The Redmi Watch 3 Active has over 100+ fitness modes to try that are said to be suitable even for beginners.
Moreover, it has 10 professional sports modes which include outdoor running, treadmill, outdoor cycling, walking, trekking, trail running, hiking, elliptical, rower, and jump rope.
We also like that it has 24/7 heart rate monitoring that can even send an alert when your heart rate is high as well as blood oxygen saturation monitoring that uses a professional optical oximetry sensor that detects your blood oxygen saturation and alerts you at a low blood oxygen level.
I have yet to try it for sleeping, but the company claims that its sleep monitoring capability can accurately record your sleep duration and condition by continuously monitoring your blood oxygen and heart rate at different stages such as deep sleep and light sleep. It can also provide you with sleep improvement suggestions according to the monitoring data to optimize your sleep quality.
These features could help me and you pay more attention to our health.

The default watch face |
Xiaomi said that this device also has plenty of watch faces to choose from and we have tried a few of them already. It even has Bluetooth voice call where you can answer calls by simply raising your hand.
For battery, this is my first day with it. But, Xiaomi claims that it has up to 12 days of battery life and 8 days of battery life on heavy usage.
Other features of the device we've seen include stress measurement, music control to your phone, weather update, alarm, stopwatch, flashlight (will make its screen brighter) timer, event, and find my phone.
Of course, it can receive notifications as well.
It is also very easy to connect on the Mi Fitness app. AND oh, it has lots of controls and functions of the app as well

Quick thoughts
|
Music Control |
The Redmi Watch 3 Active is a very promising smart fitness watch with a large and bright display, fairly good build quality with water resistance, a lot of health-related functions, long battery life, and plenty of other useful features apart from being just a watch for timekeeping.
We have yet to fully try the rest of its features. But so far, it has nearly everything I need for a budget fitness band.
It's a must-check device if you need the above-mentioned features without breaking the bank.
Note: Xiaomi Philippines will reveal its price tag later. But, we expect it to be similar to the super affordable online price tags we saw online earlier.
What do you guys think?
