A whole new look for Macs
Apple has unveiled macOS Tahoe 26, named after Lake Tahoe on the California-Nevada border.

The Liquid Glass Design |
The update introduces the Liquid Glass design language, previously seen in Apple's other software releases.
Meanwhile, key features from iOS 26, including Call Screening, Hold Assist, and Live Translation, are also coming to Mac.
Liquid Glass brings visual enhancements such as added depth, a transparent menu bar, and an updated Control Center. Apple has expanded Control Center toggles and introduced theme colors for a more cohesive desktop appearance.
Additionally, users can also customize folders with new colors and emojis.
For the first time, the Phone app is coming to Mac, though it requires an active iPhone to function. The app allows users to make and receive calls and access favorite contacts.

Seamless connection with an iPhone |
Live Activities will now appear in the menu bar, enabling users to track food orders or ride-hailing requests. Like the Phone app, this feature relies on iPhone Continuity.

The Live Activities |
Spotlight receives one of its most significant updates, allowing users to perform tasks, such as sending emails, creating notes, or launching Shortcuts, without opening other apps. Results are now ranked by relevance.
Shortcuts have also been redesigned and can now be triggered at scheduled times or by specific actions.
The new Apple Games app has been introduced, featuring a game overlay with controls for sound, brightness, paired controllers, and battery levels. Additionally, Apple has included Metal 4 with support for MetalFX Upscaling, Frame Interpolation, and MetalFX Denoising. The app also offers an expanding game catalog, with more major titles expected to be added in the future.
macOS Tahoe 26 is available today as a developer beta, with a public beta launching next month. The official release is expected this fall. It supports all Apple Silicon Macs and Intel models with the T2 security chip, including MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models from 2018 onward.
