HUAWEI dominates China’s foldable market in January-June

Global tech leader HUAWEI emerged as the top player in China’s foldable smartphone market in the first half of 2023.

HUAWEI leads the foldable market in China

Based on a report by research and consulting company CINNO Research, HUAWEI secured a market share of 50 percent, beating South Korea's Samsung.

The report likewise noted HUAWEI's strong sales performance, especially its latest product Mate X3, which was commercially launched last March.

Meanwhile, Samsung and vivo took the third and fourth spots. They were followed by HONOR, Xiaomi, and Moto.

CINNO Research also reported the increased adoption of foldable smartphones as sales jumped 72 percent year-on-year. Breaking down, in the first quarter, the market saw a 51 percent increase followed by a 99 percent jump in the April to June period.

For the first semester, China was able to ship 2.27 million foldable phones, an impressive 102 percent increase from a year ago, data from the global market research firm International Data Corporation showed.
