#ICYMI: LRT-1 Roosevelt Station now called FPJ Station

Starting August 20, the Roosevelt Station of LRT-1 will be called Fernando Poe Jr. Station.

Just in time for FPJ's birth anniversary

On the same day as the late actor’s birth anniversary, LRT-1’s Roosevelt Station will be named after the late National Artist Fernando Poe Jr.

According to a report by Inquirer, the move follows RA 11608. The law was signed by former President Rodrigo Duterte on December 10, 2022, which renames Roosevelt Avenue in Quezon City to FPJ Avenue in honor of Poe.

I hope people remember FPJ whenever they board this train. Public service has always been in FPJ's heart. Giving commuters a safe and comfortable ride is a way of keeping his legacy alive, Senator Grace Poe said.

Attending the ceremonial unveiling on Sunday were Senator Poe, former Senate President Tito Sotto III, and Senator Lito Lapid, the law's author, among others.

Also in attendance was actor Coco Martin who has portrayed a number of roles first played by FPJ, like in the TV series "Ang Probinsyano" and "Batang Quiapo."
