Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 announced: Slim design, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, periscope super zoom lens!

Chinese technology giant Xiaomi earlier launched its newest flagship foldable smartphone—Mix Fold 3.

A new slimmer, more durable, faster, and better high-end Xiaomi foldable!

The new Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 brings several upgrades coming from the Mix Fold 2 last year.

The device is now even slimmer at 10.98mm when folded compared to the 11.2mm of its predecessor. When unfolded, it is 5.26mm coming from 5.4mm. It is available in glass and composite fiber back versions.

The company also upgraded its hinge design which consists of 198 components and takes up 17 percent less internal space than its previous high-end foldable. Xiaomi claims that it is now more durable as it comes with a 3-element structure and 14 micro-hinges as well as a carbon ceramic steel rotating mechanism.

It also has a mini laptop-like mode as the hinge supports a 45 to 135-degree hover opening.

Stacked motherboard

To make its design even slimmer, the company used a new vertically stacked motherboard designed by its engineers.

For the display, the main folding panel uses a UTG-glass-protected 8.03-inch LTPO E6 OLED screen with 120Hz variable refresh rate, and FHD+ 2160 x 1960 resolution.

The second screen (cover display) features a 6.56-inch LTPO E6 OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 2520 x 1080 resolution, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, and an impressive max brightness of 2,560 nits.

Both panels have HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support.

Back and front design

Under the hood, the device is powered by the 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip with New Adreno GPU, up to 16G RAM, up to 1TB storage, and a bigger 4,800mAh battery (coming from 4,500mAh), USB-C 67W wired fast charging and added a 50W wireless charging support.

The other highlight of the device is it is using a LEICA-enhanced quad-camera configuration consisting of a 50MP Sony IMX800 23mm OIS main cam, 12MP 15mm ultra-wide camera, 10MP 75mm 3x telephoto camera with OIS, and 10MP 115mm 5x optical telephoto with OIS.

For selfies, it uses a 20MP 27mm wide shooter on both the folding and cover screens.

It also has Harman Kardon stereo speakers, Hi-Res Audio, up to tri-band WiFi 7, 5G, 4G LTE, GNSS, and dual SIM.

It weighs 255 or 259 grams depending on the type of material used.

The device runs with Android 13 OS with MIUI Fold 14 skin.
