We share our five favorite features the new GoPro HERO12 Black Edition that was released in the Philippines recently.
But before we got to them, we also unboxed and shared our first impressions of the new action camera.
The GoPro HERO12 Black Edition starts at PHP 24,990 in the Philippines.
1. Front and rear screens - The new HERO12 comes with a rear 2.27-inch touchscreen LCD while in front is a 1.4-inch color LCD non-touch. Having a screen in front and at the back allows the user to view their subject and compose the framing whether or not they are shooting others or themselves.
2. Lightweight and waterproof body - The GoPro HERO12 is just 154 grams and is made of premium but lightweight materials. What is even more impressive is that even without an outer housing, the GoPro HERO12 is waterproof at up to 10 meters or 33 feet.
3. Longer-lasting Battery - GoPro claims to have re-engineered the power management of the new HERO12 to be able to record up to 2x longer. This should allow users to capture more footage while reducing the frequency of swapping batteries.
GoPro says that the HERO12 can record up to 70 minutes of continuous recording with the HyperSmooth 6.0 ON at 5.3K at 60fps up from the HERO11's 35 minutes.
4. Large 8:7 sensor with Vertical Capture - The HERO12 has a new sensor with an 8:7 aspect ratio that can capture hi-res 4K at 9:16 content without mounting the camera vertically. The large 8:7 sensor also allows for immersive 16:9 content made for wide screens. Lastly, users can shoot at full 8:7 and crop their desired aspect ratio in post.
5. Bluetooth Audio Connectivity - The HERO12 introduces the new capability to connect to wireless external microphones including Apple AirPods or other Bluetooth headsets which should enhance audio when narrating a scene, using voice commands, or listening to camera alerts through earbuds.
What is even more impressive is that the HERO12 can connect up to four compatible devices at the same time.
