OPPO A79 5G launched: 90Hz LCD, Dimensity 6020, 50MP rear camera

OPPO introduces the new A79 5G with a Dimensity 6020 octa-core processor, 90Hz FHD+ LCD screen, and 50MP rear camera in India!

Just months after the previous A78 5G?

OPPO announced the previous generation OPPO A78 5G back in January in Malaysia. Now in October, OPPO introduces the new A79 5G in India.

It features a large 6.72-inch LCD screen with a 2400 x 1080 resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, a 180Hz touch sampling rate, and a 680 nits peak brightness. It has a 20:9 aspect ratio and a 96 percent coverage of the NTSC color gamut.

Inside is the 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 6020 octa-core processor, Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB UFS 2.2 storage, microSD card expansion, and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W SUPERVOOC charging via USB-C.

At the back of the phone is the 50MP f/1.8 main camera with Samsung JN1 sensor, and a 2MP f/2.4 portrait camera with OV02B12B sensor with an LED flash. In front is the 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera.

Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers, IP54 water and dust resistance, 5G, Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3, and GPS.

Running the show is Android 13 with ColorOS 13.1 on top.

It will come in either 165.6 x 76 x 7.99 mm and weigh 193 grams. Lastly, it will come in either Mystery Black or Glowing Green colorways.

It will be available for purchase on October 28, 2023, in India through OPPO stores, Flipkart, Amazon and other authorized outlets.

There is no word yet on International or Philippine availability and pricing.
