DxOMark: Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra comes with "decent" cameras

Global camera testing authority DxOMark has recently published the scores for the new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Coming from the Galaxy S23 Ultra with 140 points, the Galaxy S24 Ultra achieved a slightly higher score of 144 points.

According to DxOMark, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra delivered a "decent performance" in its camera tests with slight improvements over its predecessor.

It produces vivid and pleasant brightness across all conditions and videos when viewed on an HDR display, has an accurate target exposure in low light, neutral white balance, good detail in bright light, controlled noise in bright light, and effective video stabilization

However, it has noise in shadow areas and corners of the frame in photos, noise in low light video, out-of-focus background subjects in group shots, delay in shutter, slow video focus, loss of fine detail in low light, and some white balance and exposure instabilities.

While it is still enough to be granted a "Gold 2024" rating (maybe DxOMark is just being a little too kind to Samsung), the device sits in the 18th spot of its camera rankings. That's bad for a 2024 ultra-premium flagship smartphone with "strong" camera specs. Even some "premium" devices with lower price tags like the Find X6 and Pixel 8 scored achieved higher overall scores.

The top 6 performing phones are the HUAWEI Mate 60 Pro+, HUAWEI P60 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max (tie), and Google Pixel 8/OPPO Find X6 Pro (tie).

Just note that it is not all about the benchmark and camera ranking of DxOMark, let's also hope that Samsung will further improve its software to help the device achieve better actual camera results in the future.

Anyway, to those who are wondering, the Galaxy S24 packs a 200MP main camera with OIS, 12MP ultra-wide shooter, 10MP 3x telephoto, and 50MP 5x telephoto camera.
