Following the closure of CNN, the TV5 broadcast network has taken over the vacated channel.

TV5 acquires the vacated channel of CNN, and introduces RPTV!

The new name for the channel will now be called as RPTV, a free-to-air channel that will cover sports, news, and entertainment content.

This new Pangilinan-owned media firm said that they will be airing Philippine Basketball Association games, like 3X3, D League, and others. Moreover, they will also show other sports content such as the Premier Volleyball League, and the games of Gilas Pilipinas.

The channel also carries the beloved noon-time show "Eat Bulaga" which is hosted by TV comedians Tito, Vic, and Joey.

Furthermore, RPTV provides live sports programming on weekends in apart from local comedy and action shows or movies.

Meanwhile, watchers can also view Wanted sa Radyo by Senator Raffy Tulfo and Ted Failon, the two personalities' news and public service shows.

The birth of RPTV is aligned with our commitment to elevate the standards of entertainment, sports, and public service broadcasting in the Philippines,” TV5 president and CEO Guido Zaballero said

RPTV is available on Channel 5 in Zamboanga, Channel 12 in Baguio, Channel 8 in Bacolod, and Channel 9 Analog in Manila, Cebu, and Davao. On top of that, it can be viewed on pay TV on SatLite (Channel 9) and Cignal TV (Channel 10). GSat (Channel 8) and more than 300 national cable and satellite service providers.

Also to recall, TV5 is being operated by MediaQuest Holdings Inc., which also runs Radyo5, One News, One Sports, One PH, Sari Sari Channel, PBA, and The Varsity Channel.

This move by the firm aims to further grow its reach in the TV industry which was previously ruled by two giants ABS-CBN Corp. and GMA Network Inc.
