But to further get the trust of their user base, the company recently further emphasized the strides they made to be even better in this aspect.

One of the best examples is their efforts on the new Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G.

In particular, Xiaomi said that the handset comes with "All-Star" Durability. Here are the reasons why.

1. IP68 water and dust resistance - This simply means that the device is protected against water up to 1.5 meters deep for about 30 minutes and is airtight sealed versus dust and other tiny particles. This makes the phone likely resistant to unwanted water splashes like rain and accidental drops in not-that-deep freshwater for our peace of mind.

While this feature is common on high-end smartphones, it is very rare on mid-rangers, especially in the under PHP 25K range. It is the only phone we know at the moment with such a feature at this price point.

2. Tougher shell - According to Xiaomi, it uses a four-corner internal reinforcement with high-strength aluminum composite material to give the phone a higher chance of survival when dropped. This should also protect its unknown type of curved glass at the back.

3. Improved internal protection and multi-layer shock absorption - To further protect its internals from damage, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G has improved PCB thickness and an extra shock-absorbing layer.

4. Gorilla Glass Victus front - For its 3D curved display, the company also equipped the handset with Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Again, this is a common display protection found on high-end phones, not mid-rangers like this one.

According to Corning, Gorilla Glass Victus has a higher chance of surviving drops onto hard surfaces from up to 2 meters. It also has 4x better scratch resistance compared with other lower-end glass protections.

5. Flagship-level internal quality tests - Xiaomi claims that the handset has also undergone 3,000 compression tests, 300 roller tests, 28,000 micro drop tests, and 10,000 USB port tests.

Bonus 1: The company also said that the phone comes with Battery Health 3.0 tech to help delay battery aging.

In the Philippines, the device is now available in stores with an SRP of PHP 20,999 with a 1-year warranty from authorized dealers.
