Blackmagic Camera now available on Android

The said camera app is made from a renowned camera brand which aims to bring pro-level video recording controls on lucky chosen Android phones.

The new Blackmagic Camera app adds professional-level video recording controls to the camera you always have on your fingertips: your phone. The app is intended to provide granular manual settings for video recording, as well as additional information such as "status and record parameters, histogram, focus peaking, levels, frame guides, and more."

The software supports recording in H.264 and H.265 formats and interfaces with Blackmagic's cloud services, allowing clips to be shared and communicated with editors and collaborators. Clips can be exchanged directly with DaVinci Resolve.

There's also a highlight feature called the stealth mode allowing users to record in 16:9 video aspect ratio while holding your phone in vertical position.

  • Focus assist, zebra, frame guides, histogram.
  • Time of day or run time, timecode recording.
  • VU or PPM audio meters.
  • Thumbnail view of all recorded clips in media tab.
  • Preview clips with scrubber, duration, timecode and file name display.
  • Fully integrated with Blackmagic Cloud and DaVinci Resolve.
  • Record to phone, select recorded clips to share via Blackmagic Cloud or sync automatically.

As mentioned earlier it is currently available in select Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices. The list includes Pixel 7, 8 series, Galaxy S23 Ultra and S24 Ultra.
