According to recent reports from reputable news sources like Reuters and CNET, Apple might launch its first foldable smartphone in 2026.

iPhone flip?

Citing "two people with knowledge of the matter," Apple foldable iPhone has progressed from the ideation stage.

This could be one of Apple's ways to attract new customers thanks to a major hardware design refresh.

Globally, the smartphone market grew 49 percent in the first quarter of 2024. Counterpoint's report last May reveals that HUAWEI is the new top player despite US sanctions beating its South Korean rival Samsung.

New foldable phones are now powered with artificial intelligence features. Apple is expected to face stiff competition from HONOR and HUAWEI in China and Samsung globally.

Recently, South Korean tech firm Samsung released its newest foldable phones as well. Its design is reportedly similar to the Z Flip.

The report also added that Apple plans to bring an upgrade to the camera of at least one iPhone model. The tech will allow its users to control the size of the aperture to create a natural depth-of-field effect similar to what HUAWEI is doing with the Pura 70 Series.

The report said that there is no guarantee that Apple would really release a foldable iPhone though.
