HONOR has unveiled the 200 Series. In this article, we will unbox the regular variant HONOR 200. |
HONOR 200 |
To recap, it is a camera-focused mid-range phone in partnership with Studio Harcourt Paris with dramatic filters. It also comes with a 6.7-inch quad-curved panel OLED panel with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, 2.63GHz Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 8-core chip, 12GB/512GB memory, a 5,200mAh battery with 100W fast charging, 50MP Sony IMX 906 + 12MP ultra-wide with macro capability + 50MP Sony IMX 856 2.5x telephoto camera with up to 50x digital zoom.
If you find that interesting, let's take a look at it.
Unboxing/Accessories
|
The HONOR 200 box |
The device came with the usual white box bearing the phone's image at the center and its brand name on the center and sides.
|
Inside the box |
Opening it up will greet you with the HONOR 200 unit, USB-C cable, 100W HONOR SuperCharge power brick, transparent case, SIM injector tool, and the typical paperwork for warranty and quick guide.
Build Quality/Design
|
The HONOR 200 design |
In terms of build quality, it has a solid structure with hard silver polycarbonate frames which gave us an impression that it won't break easily. We actually tried bending the phone with controlled force but it won't budge.
Premium aesthetics that is not prone to fingerprint smudges
The HONOR 200 boasts elegant aesthetics inspired by nature as the brand says it. Personally, it looks and feels like touching on an actual shell. At least for the Moonlight White colorway. The shiny reflections when twisting the device also make it more premium. Additionally, despite the shiny surface, it won't give us fingerprint smudges here except on the camera island.
Anyways, it is also available in Emerald Green, Coral Pink, and Black colorways.
|
HONOR 200's display |
In front, you'll see the 6.7-inch 1.5K 2664 x 1200 quad-curved OLED panel. The display also features a 120Hz refresh rate, 3,840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming for a flicker-free experience, and up to 4,000 nits peak brightness which makes it usable under sunlight.
HONOR says this also has 1.07 billion colors, with eye protection, and an In-Display fingerprint scanner. The display also houses the 50MP f/2.1 camera with 4k video capture in the centered dot notch.
|
The front-facing camera |
Looking at the top part you'll see a speaker grill, some sensors, and a microphone.
|
Top and bottom view |
At the bottom, there's another speaker to complete the stereo effect, a USB-C port, and the SIM slot. Speaking of which, the SIM tray has some sort of rubber material which indicates it may have an IP rating however HONOR did not mention this in its press materials.
On the left side, you'll see that HONOR leaves it blank and clean.
|
Right and left view |
While on the right portion, you'll find the volume up and down as well as the power button.
|
The cameras |
Moving to its cameras, it features a 50MP f/1.95 Sony IMX906 primary sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide angle camera with macro capability, and a 50MP Sony IMX856 2.5x telephoto sensor which is also capable of taking digital zoom shoots up to 50 times.
Powerful cameras for the price, cool effects
Another highlight is the Harcourt Studio portrait filters added by HONOR in partnership with the famed studio itself in Paris.
In the case of HONOR 200, you'll be able to experience that luxurious studio in the palm of your hands without actually going out of the country. This comes with three filters: the classic Black and White, Harcourt Color, and Harcourt Vibrant. All of which provide unique aesthetics and have a dramatic effect on the subject.
Below are some of the sample shots we took with the HONOR 200.

The AI Eraser |
Based on our initial shots, the HONOR 200 produces well-detailed and sharp images for our outdoor and indoor scenarios. It also gives decent dynamic range and colors on most occasions as well. Although there are "few instances" that it will give less accurate colors in some areas of the image despite pressing focus on the subject.
Usually, we can get the desired result when using the 1x and 2x optical zoom. For ultra-wide, you'll notice it will yield a lesser dynamic range and get darker in exchange for more space. The 2.5x optical zoom will let you capture photos from a distance with detailed photos but slightly different color output.
In the main spotlight, Harcourt Studio portrait mode, we were impressed with the Classic Black and White option, which creates dramatic images that you can flaunt on your social media. It also looks more appealing than the traditional Black and White filters from other phones.
When it comes to low light, the device provided decent shots in all scenes. But it is evident there is slight noise, and washed color on darker areas. While those with building lights get the exact scene as our eyes see.
For selfies, its 50MP camera also provides good results in proper lighting conditions but will get lesser image quality in low light and visible noise as well.
HONOR has pushed the AI Eraser update to the phone as well. This allowed us to remove undesired objects or people by selecting them and letting the cloud-based system do its magic. It's ideal for those who want to get their preferred shots, especially in crowded areas.

Quick thoughts
For a price of PHP 24,999, you'll be getting several good features like a flicker-free high-resolution display, a capable Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip, generous RAM and Storage, and attractive camera hardware.
One of the most capable phones for the price!
Our initial camera results were commendable plus you'll get telephoto zoom up to 2.5x. There's also up to 50x digital zoom that should let you use it for concerts or big events. Still were expecting some tweaking especially in color accuracy via software updates.
Stay tuned for the full review.
