Restart your phones: Smart "restores and normalized" mobile services

The services of PLDT mobile arm Smart were reportedly spotty or even down in several areas in the country last night.

Smart is now working properly again?

But as of 2:00 AM PHT earlier today September 19, 2024, the local telco giant said that they have completed repairs and claimed that their services have been normalized.

According to the company, the service disruption was due to "a power issue" in one of its facilities. Smart apologized for the inconvenience.

To check if your connection is back, simply restart your device/s.

We tried it on one of our review units with a Smart SIM card and we can now send messages and access mobile data.

Smart is one of the largest mobile telcos in the country with over 55.2 million subscribers in 2023. The downtime probably affected many of its users who simply need to send a message, make calls, access the internet, and receive OTPs for banking transactions, among others.
