DITO is bullish about getting more 5G WiFi customers

According to Evelyn Jimenez, DITO Telecommunity's chief revenue officer, the company has 100,000 postpaid and prepaid home WiFi subscribers.

The firm hopes to entice more consumers from the residential market.

Our target for the year is 150,000 [subscribers], and then for next year, we really want to probably more than double that. It really depends on how the market will respond, Jimenez said.

Last week, DITO Telecommunity launched DITO Home WOWFi, the country's first 5G "RedCap" internet product for residential users.

In partnership with HUAWEI Technologies, DITO Telecommunity offers a new device that supposedly unlocks the full potential of 5G with advertised speeds of up to 100 megabits per second at an affordable cost.

DITO has been expanding its network to reach more Filipinos. Currently, it has 2,000 cell sites for its 5G service deployed across major areas nationwide.

We’re trying to take a look at how many [households] we can really reach. We’re going to expand to more cities as we roll out [the service], Jimenez said.

What do you guys think?
