However, its annual growth decreased by two percent.
As the competition further tightens, Samsung was still able to keep the top spot as the leader in the global smartphone market in the third quarter of 2024, according to Canalys.
Its data showed that the South Korean company shipped 57.5 million units in Q3, which accounted for 19 percent of the market share. This growth was driven by a streamlined entry-level lineup.
However, Samsung's latest numbers were down 2 percent from the same period last year.
Landing second was Apple that was able to ship 54.5 million units (18 percent of market share), driven by the iPhone 16 Series' strong debut in emerging markets from narrower hardware gaps between base and Pro models.
The tech giant's annual growth was up 9 percent.
Also notable among the top five was that the last three spots were taken by Chinese tech giants.
Xiaomi held third with 42.8 million units and a 14 percent market share, benefiting from strategic inventory positioning for new launches in core markets. It recorded an annual growth rate of 3 percent.
OPPO was fourth with 28.6 million shipments, and a market share of 9 percent. It logged an annual growth of 8 percent.
vivo completed the top five, shipping 27.2 million units and recording a market share of 9 percent. Notably, its annual growth was 24 percent.
In the Philippines, meanwhile, Transsion topped the list with 33 percent unit snare. Completing the top five were OPPO, realme, Xiaomi, and Samsung.
