Smart Money is BACK
To those who do not know, Smart Money is the rival of GCash when sending money via text messages in the 2000s.
Later it was rebranded into Voyager Innovations' PayMaya which eventually evolved into Maya. Maya is now a digital bank licensed by the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
Local telco giant PLDT is currently one of the backers of Voyager Innovation's Maya. But Inquirer said that PLDT doesn't have the majority stake in Maya anymore and its business model has changed ever since it became a digital bank.
PLDT also manages Smart. So, it is interesting to see how this move will pan out.
But one thing is for sure, Smart will relaunch Smart Money to combat the dominance of GCash, the top finance super app in the Philippines.
From the network with the widest coverage, Smart Money is more than just an e-wallet—it is everyone's financial superapp. With its innovative features, transferring money and managing your bills have never been this easy!
Upon checking, Smart Money similar look and function to Maya with a PHP 100,000 limit. It can be used for mobile load, sending money, bank transfers, scan and pay, and many more like paying for water, electricity, internet, toll payment, and even education fees.
