According to the latest Ookla Speedtest Global Index, the Philippines has the 76th fastest mobile internet out of 111 countries worldwide.
The Philippines achieved a Median Download Speed of 35.56 Mbps, 7.37 Mbps Upload Speed, and 22ms Latency.
While the country is down by 2 spots, this score is still better than some of our neighboring countries like Laos (#79), Cambodia (#86), and Indonesia (#87), among others.
However, the 35.56 Mbps DL speed is still not comparable to the likes of the United Arab Emirates (#1) with 441.89 Mbps, Qatar (#2) with 358.27 Mbps, and South Korea (6) with 148.34 Mbps.
Recently, local telcos Smart/TNT, Globe/TM, and DITO have been ramping up network upgrades. Smart and TNT recently launched their 5G Max service, Globe deployed 378 new mobile sites recently, and DITO started utilizing the 5G "RedCap" tech.
For Fixed Broadband, the country is ranked 55 with 93.68 Mbps DL and 94.02 Upload speeds at 6ms Latency.
Let's see how well our local telcos could ramp up network upgrades further next year.
