US tech titan Apple has slashed the prices of iPhones in mainland China amid tougher smartphone competition in one of the world’s economic powerhouses.

Discounted iPhones are available in China for 4 days because of HUAWEI?

Apple just this Thursday a promotion from January 4 to 7 that will provide about 500 yuan or USD 68 discount on its latest premium units, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

A CNY 400 (around PHP 3.2K) decrease in original price tags, meanwhile, is set for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models.

Older models, on the other hand, would also be cheaper by CNY 300 yuan (around PHP 2.4K).
About 29,300 iPhones are only covered by the promotion, the company said.

Aside from smartphones, Apple also decided to implement price cuts on its other devices, including an 800-yuan (around PHP 6.3K) markdown for the MacBook Air. Modest discounts will also be available for iPads, Apple Watches, AirPods, and Apple Pencils.

Apple made this move as its main rivals, particularly HUAWEI, continue to offer competitive prices.

According to the latest reports, the launch of iPhone 16 allowed Apple to regain a spot in the top five in the Chinese market. It secured second place with a 15.6 percent market share, while local player vivo dominated the sector with an 18.6 percent market share.
