Meltwater has released its latest Digital 2025 Global Overview Report. It compiled and analyzed data to rank countries based on various connectivity metrics.

Citing data from Ookla, the February 2025 report said that the Philippines' fixed internet connection speed was at 93.68 Mbps. It was (at least!) slightly below the global average of 95.10 Mbps.

The country also beat 22 other countries included in the list, including other Asian countries like India (63.55 Mbps), and Indonesia (32.05 Mbps). It also ranked above major economies such as Germany with 93.58 Mbps and Australia with 77.90 Mbps.

In terms of mobile internet connection speed, the Philippines was among the slowest with 35.56 Mbps, way below the worldwide average of 61.52 Mbps.

On mobile connectivity, the Philippines was way above the global average of 107.1 percent. The report cited data from GSMA Intelligence and the United Nations that showed the Philippines has a mobile connectivity of 121.8 percent compared with the total population.

The share of cellular connection (3G, 4G, and 5G) as a percentage of total cellular mobile connections was 98.2 percent, also above the global average of 94.6 percent.

Meanwhile, the country's mobile connectivity index was at 67.2, while internet adoption was at 83.8 percent as a percent of the total population.

The Philippines was among those with the highest daily time spent using the internet. Citing GWI (Q3 2024), Filipinos on average spent 8 hours and 52 minutes using the internet each day on any device.

Manila ranked third after South Africa and Brazil and was way above the global average of 6 hours and 38 minutes.

The country was also second among countries that used phones to access the internet with 98.5 percent following Indonesia. The global average was 96.3 percent.

In terms of accessing the internet using computers, the Philippines was below the list with 64 percent, which was still above the global average at 61.5 percent.
