A new iPhone every 6 months?

In a recent post by the Analyst, the Cupertino-based giant may begin launching affordable models at the first half of the year, while the premium models will launch in the second half. This revised approach of bi-annual release is influenced by multiple key factors such as competition in key markets and product line expansion needs.

Apple has been facing growing competition from multiple brands that typically release new phones in the first half of the year. This move. will align iPhone launches in both halves, which could help close the 'marketing gap' and maintain year-round consumer interest.

The company is expected to increase the number of its iPhone models. If all models were introduced in the fall, it could result in weakened marketing effectiveness. Kuo observed that the Pro models currently dominate attention and have sidelined lower-priced variants.

The move could also be a response to pressures in markets such as China, where fast-paced product cycles by rival brands are pushing Apple to adapt.

If the semi-annual release does come into fruition, the new launch cycle could create a ripple effect across the smartphone industry. Competitors might alter their release timelines to avoid overlap, and Apple's suppliers would need to adjust their production schedules.

iPhone Launch Predictions

Second Half of 2025 - iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Slim, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max
First Half of 2026 - iPhone 17e
Second Half of 2026 - iPhone 18 Slim, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone Foldable
First Half of 2027 - iPhone 18, iPhone 18e
Second Half of 2027 - iPhone 19 Slim, iPhone 19 Pro, iPhone 19 Pro Max and iPhone Foldable 2nd Generation

Lastly, Kuo believes that this staggered timeline could stabilise iPhone manufacturing. This reduces the typical production drop that follows Apple's fall launches.

We will have to wait and see what Apple decides to do in the coming months.

What do you guys think?
