More areas connected

The company said it hopes to have 700 connected areas by the end of 2025, with more towers expected to be deployed amid its aggressive network buildup.

The Ayala-led group is ramping up its network innovation and sustainability by rolling out wireless technologies, such as 32T32R Massive MIMO (multiple input, multiple output), to boost LTE and 5G coverage in densely populated urban areas.

Currently, Globe covers 98.71 percent of Metro Manila and 97 percent of key cities in the Visayas and Mindanao.

In an earlier statement, Globe reported a 3-percent increase in its bottom line, reaching PHP 7 billion.

The telco giant said Mynt chipped in PHP 1.8 billion to the group’s bottom line, soaring by 86 percent from a PHP 962 million contribution a year ago. This, as the company continued to grow its user base.

Mynt's contribution accounted for 22 percent of Globe Telecom’s pre-tax net income, an improvement of 11 percent in the same quarter last year.

In the first three months, the company spent PHP 8.5 billion on network expansion.

Outside its core business, Globe is also present in financial technology, virtual healthcare, and e-commerce, among others.

In 2024 alone, Globe deployed 587 5G sites in the country to upgrade its network.
