Huawei has introduced its first foldable laptop, the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design, marking the company’s official entry into the foldable PC category. The device features an 18-inch 3.3K (3926 x 2472) OLED display that folds down to a more compact 13-inch (2472 x 1648) form factor, offering versatility in both work and portability.
Design-wise, the MateBook Fold maintains Huawei’s signature aesthetic while prioritizing thinness and lightness. When unfolded, it measures just 7.3mm thick and weighs 1.16kg, making it one of the slimmest and lightest devices in its class.

The exterior features a leather finish, available in three color options: Forged Shadow Black, Sky White, and Cloud Blue. The black variant includes additional detailing, such as a "Forging Shadow Cloud Pattern" on the back and a "Black Gold Waistline" accent.
A key element of the design is the 285mm folding hinge, which HUAWEI describes as the largest in the industry. The hinge utilizes a three-stage shaft with uniform torque for smoother opening and closing. Its water-drop shape is engineered to reduce stress on the display when folded. The brand added that the hinge offers a 400 percent increase in hovering torque and double the machining accuracy compared to previous mechanisms.
The hinge allows for flexible positioning, supporting angles from 0 to 150 degrees for ergonomic use.

The dual-layer LTPO OLED panel boasts a dynamic contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits, ensuring vivid visuals. To enhance durability, HUAWEI has incorporated a carbon fiber support layer beneath the screen, which the company claims triples impact resistance.
